The Planegger psychotherapist Sieglinde Eva Tömmel has written a book about her voluntary work with refugees from Afghanistan. She seeks understanding for these people, who have often experienced terrible things, and is nevertheless optimistic that their integration can succeed.

The Planegger psychoanalyst and therapist Sieglinde Eva Tömmel has offered trauma consultation hours for refugees on a voluntary basis for many years. In the container camp in Krailling, she mainly met refugees from Afghanistan. This resulted in a book that was published last fall. In “Flight to Germany. Afghans between origin and arrival” (Ibidem, Stuttgart 2022), Tömmel describes the history and culture of Afghanistan, documents conversations with refugees and shows ways for integration. She spoke to the SZ about the trauma of these people and advocates approaching them impartially.
