Reemtsma closes Hamburg Institute for Social Research – Culture

The Hamburg Institute for Social Research will cease its work in 2028. Foundation board member Jan Philipp Reemtsma and director Wolfgang Knöbl announced this in a press release on Monday after the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported the decision. The appointment results from the end of Knöbl’s term of office when he reaches the age of 65. What is crucial, however, is Reemtsma’s decision, who almost exclusively financed the institute, which he founded in 1984, and ran it alone until 2015.
