Reduced to eight, the red lantern of Ligue 2 Nancy eliminates Troyes on penalties

It is difficult to speak of the magic of the Coupe de France, in the aftermath of the violence that put an end to the Paris FC – Lyon match. But Nancy achieved a feat this Saturday in the round of 16, winning in Troyes on penalties (1-1, 2-4 on tabs). Last in Ligue 2, the Lorraine team eliminated the 17th in Ligue 1 when it was reduced to eight, after the expulsions of Nonnenmacher (32nd), Ciss (76th) and Karamoko (90th + 4).

The Aubois had however opened the scoring by Brandon Domingues on penalty (44th) against Nancy already reduced to ten. But Benoît Pedretti’s men did not abdicate, coming back to height thanks to Andrew Jung (63rd). And in the decisive session, Suk and Larouci missed their shot on goal.

Logic respected elsewhere

In the other four games of the day, logic was respected. Toulouse (2nd in L2), easily beat Nîmes (10th) with a score of 4 to 1. Bastia (L2) also held its rank against the Nationale 3 team (5th level) from Hauts Lyonnais (1-3 ).

The duels between amateur clubs also turned to the advantage of the best classified. Versailles (N2) won (0-1) at Sarre-Union (N3) and Vitré (N2) did the same but on penalties (1-1, 3-4 on tabs) on the lawn of the ‘AS Panazol (R2, 7th step).
