New role for Veronica Ferres
Veronica Ferres will star in the new comic adaptation “Red Sonja”.

Veronica Ferres joins the cast of the new fantasy film “Red Sonja”. She will apparently embody the mother of the title character.
In the mid-1980s, Brigitte Nielsen (59) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (75) played side by side in “Red Sonja”. However, the fantasy flick failed to impress either at the box office or the critics. In a new version of “Red Sonja” Veronica Ferres (57) is supposed to embody the mother of the eponymous main character, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Ferres seems to confirm on Instagramthat she will be in the film. In his stories, the German star refers to the report of the industry magazine and uses the hashtag #sohappy (engl. “so happy”).
More new adaptation than reboot
Matilda Lutz (30), known for the series “Die Medici”, takes on the main role of Red Sonja. In addition to other actors, there are also Wallis Day (28, “The Royals”), Robert Sheehan (34, “The Umbrella Academy”) and MMA fighter Michael Bisping (43).
Nothing is known about the exact story yet, but according to the report, an adaptation of Marvel’s “Red Sonja” comic of the same name is planned rather than a reboot of the 1985 film. Filming is currently underway in Bulgaria. MJ Bassett (“Solomon Kane”) is directing. There is no release date yet.
