The Hollywood Walk of Fame has one star added. The Red Hot Chili Peppers celebrate their honors in Los Angeles.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have unveiled their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. All four members of the California band – lead singer Anthony Kiedis (59), bassist Flea (59), drummer Chad Smith (60) and guitarist John Frusciante (52) – were present at the ceremony in Los Angeles. The star for the alternative rock band is number 2,717 on the Walk of Fame, artists have been immortalized there with stars since 1961.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers were selected for a star back in 2008. But the honor was only scheduled “a few months ago,” according to Ana Martinez, an executive on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to NBC, City News Service said. The ceremony came just in time for the release of the band’s first studio album since 2016: “Unlimited Love” will be released on April 1st.

“I know this street inside and out”

The band has a special relationship with Hollywood Boulevard. As a teenager he would have begged here Flea said, according to “Variety” at the ceremony. “When I was in high school, I would march down this street and play the trumpet (…). The Red Hot Chili Peppers were formed in 1983 by school friends Kiedis, Flea (real name Michael Peter Balzary), Hillel Slovak (1962-1988, guitar) and Jack Irons (59, drums). The band, which celebrated great success with hits like “Under the Bridge” and “Californication”, has sold around 80 million albums. In 2012, the group, who have won six Grammys to date, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Chad Smith has been with the band since 1988. John Frusciante has also been with us since 1988, with several interruptions.
