Josko Gvardiol’s record transfer to Champions League winners Manchester City is perfect.

The Record transfer from Josko Gvardiol to Champions League winners Manchester City is perfect.

As announced by Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and the English Premier League club, the 21-year-old central defender will join Pep Guardiola’s team, making him the most expensive defender in the world.

The Saxons are to receive a transfer fee of around 91.5 million euros plus bonuses for the Croatian international. Gvardiol came to RB from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020 for 18 million euros. So far, Harry Maguire, who went from Leicester City to Manchester United for 87 million euros in 2019, has held this record.

Gvardiol actually only had an exit clause for his RB contract, which ran until the summer of 2027, for the coming summer. The fixed amount should be around 110 million euros. But Guardiola wanted the all-rounder in defense immediately and forced the change.
