The corona pandemic has hit some industries hard in some cases: closed hotels and shops do not generate any income, and the operators are no longer able to pay the rents. Companies terminated office space because they no longer need that much space because of the widely prescribed home office. The real estate funds are also feeling the effects of this. Due to declining rental income, some have already had to make value adjustments. This depresses returns and causes some investors to worry about the security of their investments – many remember that a number of open-ended real estate funds were liquidated a good ten years ago in the wake of the financial crisis.
