Reading: Five questions about Israel – Munich

Except for himself and a little sister, Richard C. Schneider’s father’s entire family was murdered in Auschwitz. For him, born in Munich in 1957 and a member of the first generation after the Shoah, Jewish life is inconceivable without the State of Israel, which is now celebrating 75 years of the founding of the State in May.

The longtime ARD correspondent has lived in Tel Aviv for a good twenty years. In his new book, “The Israel Case. Five Questions About a Complicated Country,” the Middle East expert reveals the resentment and ignorance that are currently dominating the discourse about Israel in Germany. In the Literaturhaus on Wednesday, May 3, Schneider will not only ask five, but certainly many more questions or offer answers. It will be moderated by Shahrzad Osterer (Bavarian radio).
