After the defeat at Union Berlin, RB Leipzig’s managing director Oliver Mintzlaff had announced the consequences – and acted immediately. Coach Jesse Marsch was sacked on Sunday.

Jesse Marsch is no longer the trainer of RB Leipzig. The Saxon Bundesliga team drew the conclusions from the vice-champion’s sporting crisis on Sunday and put the American on leave after only five months in office. Assistant coach Achim Beierlorzer will sit on the bench in the Champions League against Manchester City on Tuesday. The club wants to present a successor to the march as soon as possible.

“It is a shame that it did not work out as hoped in this constellation and that this step has now become necessary because unfortunately the desired development and thus also the necessary results for our season goals did not materialize,” said managing director Oliver Mintzlaff. At the moment they are chasing after their own demands and now want to “set a new impulse with this decision”.

RB Leipzig: Marsch came from Salzburg just before the season

After his time in Salzburg, the 48-year-old march did not take up the post of head coach in Leipzig until the summer. As an assistant to Ralf Rangnick, he had already been in Leipzig in 2018/19. Most recently, he was unable to stand on the sidelines for three games due to a corona infection, but virtually looked after the team from quarantine.

RB Leipzig under march away without a win

In 14 league games, RB only got 18 points under Marsch. There was not a single victory away.
