The days of chunky desktop cases are numbered if the vision of gaming specialist Razer is up. In Las Vegas, the company presented Project Sophia, a desk that contains all the components for a full-fledged gaming computer.

An all-in-one has actually been understood to mean a computer that combines hardware and monitor in a space-saving manner and keeps the clutter on the desk as minimal as possible. But what if the table itself is a computer, monitor and shelf? An absolute dream for die-hard cable managers, which so far only very few hobbyists have fulfilled themselves with individual projects in painstaking detail work – until now.

Because at the CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Razer Project Sophia showed. It is a modular desk that can accommodate up to 13 different modules in its worktop and offers either a 65-inch OLED screen with speakers or a 77-inch OLED display on the long rear side. However, it remains questionable whether you can work with it at all with a seat spacing that is usually low for desks.

Of course, the edge of the table consists of an LED strip that can shine in competition with the room lighting, depending on your needs. Only a height adjustment, which is practically imposing when only one cable is connected, seems to be missing.

What is particularly exciting about this table is the inner workings. Because according to the manufacturer, the table offers a motherboard with the latest hardware, such as Intel Alder Lake processors, AMD Ryzen chips and the corresponding graphics cards. The other module slots are freely configurable.

Razer names, for example, touchscreens, graphics tablets, supports for wireless charging, special keyboards for video streaming or even a drinks warmer.

Unfortunately, Project Sophia is currently only a concept, so there is no information on prices or availability. However, the chances are not bad that at least small quantities will be available for – probably a lot of money – at some point. In 2021, Razer initially presented a concept with the Zephyr mask, but later decided to go into series production.
