Raquel Garrido accused of wearing Hermès sandals at nearly 700 euros, she denies

On social networks, controversies arise from the smallest details. For some Internet users, there is no need to go out of their way to find reasons to be indignant. The deputy France Insoumise Raquel Garrido pays the price this Tuesday. A photograph of the elected official with her husband, Alexis Corbière, and while she was drinking a beer in the street has been around Twitter since Monday. The reason ? His feet.

Internet users have spotted Raquel Garrido’s sandals, making the link with Hermès shoes which are available online at 685 euros. Titled “Santorini”, these shoes have angered some on Twitter. A surfer castigated the “indecency” of the deputy who would wear “sandals that are half of a minimum wage”. “What a shame when I think of all the precarious workers who barely manage to survive to finish the month,” he adds.

“Not Hermès, rather Nupes”

The LFI deputy, however, quickly responded by assuring that the sandals were “not Hermès”, adding with humor “rather Nupes”. The shoes were “given to him by [s]girls” returning from a trip, said Raquel Garrido, a photograph of the sandals in support.

However, the brand of the sandals is not legible in his tweet. The elected official concluded her explanation on Tuesday with a tackle: “These sandals and I have done more for the increase in wages and the sovereignty of the people than the 5k macronists and lepenists who hate us”.
