Rapper Hatik, stuck in the fog with his neighbors for too long

The rapper Hatik, already seen in the series Valid, continues his acting career in Tower of Guillaume Nicloux, screened at the Gérardmer Festival. In the shoes of a little boss, he finds himself facing a mysterious mist that engulfs their building, making everything that comes out of it disappear – object or person – without hope of return.

A promising actor

“We don’t know what this mist is,” Hatik confided to 20 minutes. We can’t swear it’s a creature, but we rather think of a vortex that grabs people. “One thing is certain: the inhabitants must organize themselves if they want to survive this rather special kind of confinement where they find themselves totally isolated from the outside world for an indefinite period.

“I don’t like horror films and those that make you feel uncomfortable, says Hatik, but I wanted to work with a director who made me discover new working methods. It was an enriching experience. The 30-year-old rapper seems perfectly comfortable in the role of one who seeks to protect his family as violence escalates in the hallways of the building.

“This character has things in common with me,” he says. Like me, he’s a “Lamba” guy who lives in a working-class housing estate. I didn’t have too much trouble embodying it: I just had to exaggerate certain emotions. What Hatik does very well. Despite the film’s downturns, Tower has the merit of surprising by its originality and confirming that Hatik has all the potential necessary to continue his career in the cinema.
