The clear winner: the Free State of Bavaria. A total of 19 percent voted for the state in southern Germany. Sylvia Freund from Bayern Tourismus is delighted with the result, she says: “Bavaria stands for warmth, joie de vivre and tradition. An expression of this is the hospitality we practice and our guests obviously feel it too.” Baden-Württemberg follows in second place with 13 percent. Only 44 votes separate third and fourth place. North Rhine-Westphalia made it onto the podium, closely followed by Schleswig -Holstein In last place and according to the survey the unfriendliest federal state is Berlin, just behind the federal states of Bremen and Brandenburg.
