Forgotten the disagreements of the past. In an interview granted this Sunday at JDD, the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region Laurent Wauquiez affirms that his support for Valérie Pécresse “will be total” in view of the next presidential election. “I will be fully engaged in this campaign”, he affirms again, estimating that the candidate LR is now the only one able “to stop the French decline”.
Valérie Pécresse recently made a strong push in the polling institutes, which now place her in second position in the first round. And gives it as a possible winner in the second round against Emmanuel Macron.
According to Laurent Wauquiez, Eric Zemmour, who would retreat in these same polls, “cannot win the presidential election” because he “confuses firmness and brutality”. Voting for him “will allow Emmanuel Macron to continue his policy that he is pursuing”, he believes. And to conclude: “Excesses do not make the strength of convictions”.
