Rammstein New Year’s Eve concert at Munich’s Theresienwiese canceled – Munich

The New Year’s concert by Rammstein on the Theresienwiese is cancelled. Organizer Klaus Leutgeb surprisingly withdrew his plans for the band’s performance in front of 145,000 spectators in the middle of Munich on Tuesday. According to information from the SZ, there was a video conference with the approval authorities in the morning. The hurdles from their side are said to have been too high for him, can be heard from the town hall. The cancellation comes less than a week after the city council decided to rent the Theresienwiese to the organizer for the big concert.

The district administration department and the police had already explained in advance that such an appearance would hardly be possible in just four and a half months. In addition, they had described Leutgeb’s security concept for the current concerts at the Riem exhibition center as unsatisfactory. Nevertheless, he had his plans for New Year’s Eve pushed forward by economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU). After the first conversation to prepare the approval, Leutgeb’s dreams of a New Year’s Eve concert on the Theresienwiese have already burst.
