The Munich city council had approved a New Year’s Eve concert by Rammstein in front of 145,000 spectators. Now the organizer is canceling the event.

The planned Rammstein concert on New Year’s Eve in Munich is history. From an official press statement by Klaus Leutgeb, the organizer of the concert, states that the band will not play a previously approved concert in Munich. The reason for this is that there is not enough time to get the event off the ground.

Cancellation “for reasons of REASON”

“An event has to work for everyone involved, which is why, as the organizer, I decided to end the planned project for reasons of REASON,” the statement said. It was agreed with the authorities not to allow the concert to take place.

Rammstein originally planned to play a concert at Munich’s Theresienwiese on New Year’s Eve. Around 145,000 spectators were expected there. However, the plans were hotly debated. Although the city council agreed, the Munich police, concert organizers, residents and the adjacent Tollwood Festival complained.
