Raised against VAR, the president of Brest will ask for the elimination of video refereeing

If Michel Platini one day returns to football, a possibility that the former UEFA president has always brushed aside until now, it will undoubtedly be at the very end of Finistère. Stade Brestois seems on the same wavelength as “Platoche”, a great opponent of video refereeing. So, according to The Team, Denis Le Saint, president of the 7th of Ligue 1, will send a letter to Vincent Labrune, his counterpart at the LFP. The objective? Simply request the removal of VAR.

Before Le Saint, coach Eric Roy and the club’s sporting director Grégory Lorenzi had railed against the video refereeing decisions. Roy protested on Instagram after his team’s defeat in Monaco (2-0) on November 5: “How and why did [sic] VAR informs the referee about certain game actions and not others? », he asked himself in particular.

Debates in other countries

As we suspected when it was introduced, and as we can see in other championships, notably the Premier League, technology has not calmed the eternal disputes around refereeing.

However, Denis Le Saint’s request is even less likely to be granted than a letter to Santa Claus.
