A look behind the scenes
Since this season there has also been “video proof” in Formula 1. (You can find all the background information here!) The FIA has now given these recordings a small glimpse into the Remote Operations Center in Geneva.
Indeed somewhat reminiscent of the “VAR” in football.
Tsunoda under criticism
The Japanese crashed in the last two races – and even swept away his teammates at Silverstone. And it wasn’t just Gasly that made it clear to Tsunoda that something like this shouldn’t happen again.
AlphaTauri’s technical director Jody Egginton reveals: “I’m not privy to the discussions that take place at the team manager level. But at the technical level […] we will sit down and as engineers […] say: We must avoid that.”

As always, safety cars or the weather can upset everything that is written on paper. It is currently dry again in Spielberg.

tires for racing
The obligatory look at the tires for the race. According to Pirelli, the fastest way today – at least on paper – is to do a stop and the Medium-Hard variant. There shouldn’t be any problems with any driver.
It gets exciting when the soft tires should play a role. Because only a few drivers have a fresh set available.
anniversary
Latifi is driving his 50th race for Williams today – and logically also his 50th Formula 1 race. The question is how many more will come. Because his cockpit for 2023 currently seems anything but certain.
Of course, we congratulate you on your anniversary! Let’s see if he can give himself a present on the track today. But of course it won’t be easy in the Williams without the updates…
New engine for Alonso
Colleague Albert Fabrega reports that Alonso is getting a new engine. It’s not a big surprise after Alonso’s retirement in yesterday’s sprint. He would only start from P19 in front of Bottas today anyway.
In the worst case, he would lose a position on the starting grid or start straight out of the pits. But he would have an additional motor in the pool.
There is no official confirmation yet. But because the move would definitely make sense, we can assume it’s true.

rain in the night
As announced yesterday, it rained in Spielberg during the night. This has led to Formula 3 driving in the wet earlier, currently the Formula 2 race is running in mixed conditions.
One thing is clear: if no more rain falls, it will long since be dry again by the time Formula 1 starts. But of course we are keeping an eye on the situation, because further showers are at least not impossible…
