FIA does not want to clean the track additionally
According to Sainz, the drivers have asked the World Automobile Federation to clean the first corner before the Grand Prix to reduce the risk of a starting crash. According to reports, the FIA has heard the request, but is not planning any additional sweeping or cleaning of the track.

It’s now just before 1pm in Miami – and it actually started raining a few minutes ago! Now we have to wait and see if it rains properly. Otherwise the track will be dry again by the time the race starts, there are still more than 2.5 hours to go.

In this context, there is also a quick overview of which driver still has which tires for the race. As a reminder: As of this season, all drivers have a free choice of tires at the start.
Among other things, it is striking that many drivers only have one set of mediums. This means that the medium-hard-medium variant is logically no longer used in the strategy. Others only have one set of hard tires.
For them, a two stopper with twice hard is therefore not an option. Here is the overview:

In the past few days we have said repeatedly that the strategy is still pretty open. In the meantime, however, Pirelli has made a decision after evaluating all the data: it should be the fastest with two stops afterwards.
The variant medium-hard-hard or medium-hard-medium is suggested. An option with all three mixtures is also possible. That’s surprising because the hard tires didn’t go down well with the drivers in practice.
So let’s see if Pirelli’s forecast is correct. Or maybe the rain will come at the end…

Speaking of Schumacher…
In the internal qualifying duel against Magnussen things are looking much better for him. Yesterday he was able to reduce this to 2:3. On the other hand, three drivers are still completely unsuccessful: Sainz, Ricciardo and Zhou are now 0:5 behind.

When does Schumacher get his first points?
Starting from P15 it won’t be easy again today. Nevertheless, he urgently needs a sense of achievement – also in the fight against his teammates. “The air up there is just thinner,” explains team boss Günther Steiner at ‘Sky’.
“Every little mistake […] throws you out of the points and out of Q3,” he explains. That was “especially the case this year with the midfield so close together”. In 2021, Schumacher had significantly less pressure in that regard.
But 2022 will need results to come slowly after Magnussen scored points in three of the first four races.
Jewelry fight continues
Hamilton has received an exemption for the next two races. But the record champion announced that, for example, he would not want to remove his nose piercing afterwards either.

More races in China soon?
In 2023, Formula 1 will have three races in the USA. And according to Toto Wolff, China could be the next market where the premier class is aiming for that. “It’s an important market for us,” says the Mercedes team boss according to ‘Reuters’ to ‘Xinhua’.
“I would like to drive not only in Shanghai but also in Beijing. It’s a fantastic market for us as Mercedes and I think we should leave a strong footprint there,” said Wolff.
“We now have three races in the USA […] and it would be great to do it in China too,” explains the Austrian. Because of Corona, Formula 1 drove in China for the last time in 2019. The GP is scheduled to return in 2023.
McLaren: Why Ricciardo failed in Q2
P8 for Norris yesterday, but his team-mate will only start the race from P14 afterwards. what happened there? “In the first run [in Q2] we lost a lot of time in the second sector,” reports the Australian.
“Then we had a problem starting the car in the garage,” he reveals. As a result, the second attempt was “delayed” and he was no longer able to do a reasonable outlap.

Mercedes continues to believe in the concept
