Rain and a few thunderstorms expected this Sunday

Locally strong thunderstorms will concentrate in the southeastern tip of the country and on Corsica. Much of France will be in the rain.

Strong thunderstorms will still be expected on Sunday with marked showers in the south-east, as far as the Rhône valley and towards the Alps, according to Météo-France forecasts. Three departments have been placed on orange alert: Alpes-Maritimes, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud. The alert will begin this Sunday evening at 8 p.m. and will end on Monday at 3 p.m.

On Sunday, thunderstorms will also be accompanied by hail and heavy precipitation. In the afternoon, the weather will remain rainy. Only a few thunderclaps will remain possible. The sky will become brighter around the Gulf of Lion but at the cost of a reinforcement of the mistral and tramontana.

From southwest to northeast, the sky will be overcast in the morning. The storms of the night will evacuate Occitanie and showers will resist on the Aquitaine coast and in the northeast. Sunny spells will develop in the afternoon. Further west, the sky will be variable. Cloudy periods will bring a few showers.

“In the evening and following night, a risk of strong thunderstorms, in particular very windy and with very high intensities of rain, concerns Corsica and the Alpes-Maritimes. The tail of the disturbance extends over the rest of the country”, indicates Météo-France in its bulletin.

The minimums will show 10 to 15°C in general, 17 to 21°C on the shores of the Mediterranean and up to 20 to 24°C in Corsica. The maximum will not exceed 17 to 24°C. They will reach 22 to 26°C in the south-east, 29 to 36°C in Corsica.
