Railway technology – Alstom no longer invests – Economy

The French railway technology manufacturer Alstom no longer wants to invest in projects in Russia for the time being. Any deliveries to Russia would also be suspended for the time being, according to a statement from the group. The sanctions imposed will of course be met. The group’s direct sales in Russia accounted for less than 0.5 percent of all sales, a spokesman said. Alstom also announced that it intends to revaluate the book value of its 20 percent stake in the Russian locomotive builder Transmashholding at the end of the 2021/2022 financial year. According to Alstom, discussions about a project in Ukraine are on hold for the time being. The company wanted to establish cooperation with the Ukrainian railway network operator UZ for the delivery of locomotives and maintenance services. Alstom has local employees in both Ukraine and Russia. The safety of the 70 employees is now the priority.
