Railway and GDL: What the collective bargaining agreement costs the railway – economy

This round of collective bargaining was expensive, that much is certain. The strikes of the past few months alone have cost Deutsche Bahn (DB) around 325 million euros, 25 million euros per strike day. These arise because the railway lost a large part of its income on these days and also has to compensate passengers. Added to this are the costs of the new collective bargaining agreement. DB Human Resources Director Martin Seiler does not want to reveal how high they are. The agreement is “financially challenging,” he says. The final evaluations are still in progress.
