Rafael Nadal positive for Covid-19 after two defeats for his return

Rafael Nadal had already declared that he was not certain of playing the Australian Open, from January 17 to 30, after his two defeats Friday and Saturday against Andy Murray then Denis Shapovalov, during an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi. The Spaniard had returned to competition after more than four months of absence following a left foot injury. Things got even more complicated for Nadal, who contracted Covid-19.

“I wanted to tell you that when I returned home after playing the Abu Dhabi tournament, the PCR test carried out when arriving in Spain was found to be positive for Covid”, the king of Roland-Garros tweeted on Monday, 35 years old. Confined at home, Nadal spends “unpleasant moments”. He mentions “total flexibility of his schedule”, which will of course depend on the evolution of his state of health.
