Where are the suspected ex-RAF terrorists Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub? After the arrest of her alleged accomplice Klette, investigators are pursuing hundreds of new leads.

After the arrest of ex-RAF terrorist Daniela Klette, investigators are pursuing hundreds of clues in the search for her former accomplices Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub. The authorities announced on Wednesday that around 760 new tips had now been received and were being processed by the Verden public prosecutor’s office and the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office. New wanted posters for the two wanted people were also published and distributed nationwide in printed form. The investigators are hoping for information from the public, especially about the whereabouts of Garweg and Staub.

Klette had gone into hiding for decades and was arrested in Berlin at the end of February. Like Garweg and Staub, she belonged to the so-called third generation of the left-wing extremist terrorist organization Red Army Faction (RAF), which had carried out numerous attacks and killed people until 1991.

The 65-year-old is in custody in the women’s prison in Vechta. Burdock, Staub and Garweg were or are also wanted for several robberies.

Suspected ex-RAF terrorists were in close contact

According to the authorities, there are indications that Garweg was in Klette’s apartment in Berlin – the two suspected robbers are therefore likely to have been in close contact based on previous findings. According to the information, the investigating authorities also assume that Garweg had lived in various places in Berlin for many years and at times had two dogs that went by the names Anusch and Lola. Recently he was often out and about with his dog Lola. Traces of dust were also found in the apartment.

Garweg regularly used aliases such as Martin Becker, Martin Martens and Martin von Staden. It can be assumed that he has more. Identity documents and driving licenses were also found in Klette’s apartment, which showed that she used the aliases Claudia Bernadi, Carlotta Gärtner, Claudia Schmidt and Claudia Schmidt Oliviera.
