“Radically transform France”: Macron announces a new era when he takes office

He begins his second term in office – on Saturday Emmanuel Macron was again sworn in as President of the French Republic in the presence of his two predecessors, Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande. Macron took the opportunity to outline his plans for France. “The new era will be one of decisive action for our country and for Europe. We will act first to avoid escalation after the invasion of Ukraine, to help democracy and courage to win, to build a new European peace and to create a new autonomy on our continent.”
“We will act to make our country the great ecological power by radically transforming our means of production, our transportation and our way of life across France. We will act to tackle inequalities at the root by improving our school and rebuild the health system.” Macron’s wife Brigitte was also present at her husband’s inauguration, as were many other faces of French politics. Former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who ran against Macron in the first round of the presidential election, and Culture Minister Roselyne Bachelot.
