Racecourse: Dispute about “demolition of the year” in Nuremberg – Bavaria

After the racetrack in Nuremberg-Reichelsdorf was voted “Demolition of the Year”, Nuremberg’s construction officer Daniel Ulrich caused debates. In the SZ, Ulrich had questioned the nominating regional association for home care and explained that the monumental status of the railway, which was about to be demolished, had “not even been finally clarified”. The spokeswoman for monument policy for the Greens, Sabine Weigand, now criticizes this as “impudence” and “entirely untrue”. The monument status was attributed by the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, whose expertise is also available to the city. An initiative fighting to preserve the railway was also irritated.

Building consultant Ulrich insists that the status of a monument is not finally clarified by the state office or the entry in the list of monuments – but if necessary, in the event of a lawsuit, only in court. Statements by the state office are “not always undisputed, so they are by no means conclusive”.
