Kim Kalicki achieved her third win of the season at the World Cup final in the women’s two-man bobsleigh. Laura Nolte once again secured the crystal ball for overall victory.

Kim Kalicki won the World Cup final in the women’s two-man bobsleigh in Lake Placid. On the challenging track at Mount van Hoevenberg, where the World Championships will take place next winter, Kalicki from Wiesbaden and her pusher Leonie Fiebig won in 1:53.39 minutes and secured their third success of the season by a clear margin.

“The rides were good twice, even though I was knocked out for two nights because I probably ate something wrong,” said the 26-year-old, “it was a good attack for the World Cup next year.”

The British Adele Nicoll and Kya Placide (0.81 seconds back) came second in the US state of New York, ahead of two-man bobsleigh Olympic champion Laura Nolte from BSC Winterberg (0.85) with her pusher Claudia Schüßler. Nolte, who won four races in a pair this season, once again secured the crystal globe in the overall ranking with third place after her triumph last year, ahead of Kalicki and Lisa Buckwitz. The world champion and overall World Cup winner in the monobob from BRC Thuringia was in second place after the first run, but was pushed off the podium by Nicoll and Nolte at the end of the season.

Overall, the German women dominated the World Cup season and won every World Cup race. Nolte triumphed four times, Kalicki won three World Cup races, Buckwitz won in Innsbruck. “A very confident victory. She pulled it off cleanly,” said national coach René Spies, “all in all a great season for our women with a great finish. We are leaving very satisfied Lake Placid home after a long season.”
