quoted. the media podcast: more pressure, less quality? – Media

Digitization, lack of resources, intensification of work: what does that do to journalists, their tasks and the media system itself?

Journalism is undergoing a transformation that is bringing far-reaching changes to this profession and further increasing the demands on media professionals. Cross-media work takes more time, you have to operate different channels at the same time and you should often be present on social media yourself. All of this can make people feel overwhelmed.

But the change also raises other questions: How do the changes in journalism affect its quality, its function and its impact? Can journalists still fulfill their responsibility for social cohesion as many of them want to? What do the changes in everyday journalistic work mean for the necessary variety of perspectives or for the view of cultural diversity?

In a recent study by Otto Brenner Foundation examines how journalists experience the media transformation process.

In the new episode of “quoted. der medienpodcast” the communication scientist Nadia Zaboura and the SZ author Nils Minkmar discuss the results of this study and talk to the journalist Rainer Nübel, one of the authors of the study and professor for media and communication management at the university Fresenius in Heidelberg.
