Netflix starts a German version of “Queer Eye”: These are “Fab 5”

“Queer Eye” is coming to Germany: Netflix will launch an international adaptation of the successful show for the first time. And it is already clear who will be allowed to give the participating candidates a make-over in this country. These are the German “Fab 5”.

It is one of Netflix’s most successful in-house productions: In “Queer Eye”, five homosexual men turn the life of a candidate inside out in each episode. Superficially, it’s about a new hairstyle, better-fitting clothes or healthier diet – but the focus is always on fates that go to the heart. Now there will be an international offshoot of the show for the first time – in Germany.

“Since the beginning of the series in 2018 it has been dusty Queer Eye at the Primetime Emmy Awards annually and has now proudly won nine awards. Accordingly, work / life coach Leni Bolt, fashion expert Jan-Henrik Scheper-Stuke, beauty specialist David Jakobs, nutrition and health coach Aljosha Muttardi and designer Ayan Yuruk can be seen in the German version. “To be honest: The word dream team is still an understatement. We have become a real family”, enthuses Scheper-Stuke already on Instagram from the shooting. He works as the head of the Auerbach Berlin fashion house. Yuruk also writes of “a second family” that he found on the team. Your “Queer Eye” colleague Muttardi is probably the best known of the German “Fab 5”, he is followed by over 58,000 people on Instagram. “The cat is out of the bag: you can see my vegan face on Netflix in 2022!”, he is happy there. David Jakobs is just behind with over 56,000 followers. Bolt writes on Instagram, he looks forward to starting an “exciting journey and accompanying people on their way to find their personal happiness.”

Among other things, the German “Fab 5” are supposed to help a young football coach come out and a single father with dating. In the US, “Fab 5” Antoni Porowski (nutrition), Bobby Berk (interior), Karamo Brown (culture), Tan France (fashion) and Jonathan Van Ness (styling) have become stars thanks to the Netflix show. They are actively committed to breaking down prejudices against the queer community, demanding more rights for them and also meeting politicians for this purpose. France and Berk meanwhile also host other shows on Netflix, Van Ness sells its own beauty product line – the popularity is worth it for them.
