The successful Netflix show “Queer Eye” is getting a German offshoot.

Five homosexual style experts give “everyday heroes” inspiration for positive changes in their lives. The Netflix reality show “Queer Eye” from the USA has developed into one of the most successful in-house productions since 2018. Now Germany is getting its own “Queer Eye Germany”, like the streaming service via Instagram announced. The so-called Fab Five, i.e. the five protagonists of the reality format, have also already been determined.

The show will be hosted by Jan-Henrik Scheper-Stuke, who is responsible for fashion, beauty expert David Jakobs, nutrition and health advisor Aljosha Muttardi, design specialist Ayan Yuruk and Leni Bolt, who will be responsible for the work-life balance of the participants . As the production company ITV Studios announced, there will initially be five episodes in which the quintet will, among other things, help a young soccer coach to come out. In another episode, a single father is shown the way back into the dating world.

“Queer Eye” a reissue of Bravo format

The German adaptation is the world’s first offshoot of the US version of “Queer Eye”. The Netflix start in 2018 was a new edition of the former format “Queer Eye for the straight guy”, which was broadcast from 2003 to 2007 on the private broadcaster Bravo. The Netflix version from the USA based on it has so far five seasons and two special editions and has already won nine Emmy Awards.

The shooting for the first episodes of “Queer Eye Germany” took place from April to September 2021. According to ITV Studios, the format will be broadcast in the coming year.
