Yellow pants and blue coat: Queen Máxima of the Netherlands has once again visited a shelter for refugees from Ukraine.

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands (50) visited an aid station in Amsterdam for refugees from Ukraine on Wednesday. The queen also wore the colors of Ukraine on her body: Her outfit consisted of a yellow sweater, yellow pants and a long blue coat.

In the so-called RAI, refugees arriving in Amsterdam are registered, subjected to a medical check and provided with food and drink. The Queen spoke to staff from the Red Cross and the City of Amsterdam, among others, about the founding of the place and the collaboration with other organisations.

conversations with those affected

In the refugee accommodation, the Queen also exchanged views with those affected. For example, she spoke with a lot of empathy to a refugee mother and her two children. It can be seen in picturesas she puts her hand on the woman’s arm. She also sat down with a family at lunch and showed sympathy in this round of talks as well. It was about the situation in Ukraine, her trip to the Netherlands and contact with relatives who had stayed behind.

It was not Máxima’s first visit to a refugee camp since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Together with her husband Willem-Alexander (54), she visited accommodation in Harskamp a week ago. There, the maximum capacity of 950 refugees had already been reached, like the royals shared in an Instagram post.

Refugees from Ukraine can currently travel to the Netherlands by train free of charge, their passport or ID card is sufficient as a ticket. Almost three million people have already fled to neighboring countries since Russia invaded late last month.
