In January 2022, the Danish Queen Margrethe II will be in office for 50 years. The palace has now published an official photo for the anniversary.

Special anniversary for Queen Margrethe II of Denmark (81): On January 14, 2022 she will be the head of state of Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland for 50 years. For the jubilee of the throne, the Danish palace has now published an official portrait of the queen, showing Margrethe II from the side, her gaze slightly raised.

Queen Margrethe II wears a crown set with diamonds and pearls on her pinned back hair. She also combined matching earrings and a chain. She rounded off her majestic look with a light blue velvet dress and natural make-up. She only highlighted the lips with a red lipstick.

As reported by the Danish royal family, the photographer Per Morten Abrahamsen (64) took the portrait in the domed hall of Fredensborg Palace.

The jubilee of the throne is celebrated with many events

The throne anniversary will be celebrated from mid-January with a series of events attended by the royal family, government officials and foreign guests. This includes a carriage ride by Margrethe II through Copenhagen and a gala on January 15th.

The day of the throne jubilee also marks the death date of Frederik IX. (1899-1972). Margrethe II’s father was King of Denmark before his eldest daughter from 1947 until his death on January 14, 1972. Until 1953, the succession to the throne in Denmark only provided male heirs. Margrethe II could only become head of state by changing the law.
