Shortly before her 70th jubilee on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II is reminiscing. The monarch has read through old greeting cards.

Shortly before her 70th throne jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II (95) recalled what makes a “perfect queen”. A greeting card from 2002, which a nine-year-old boy named Chris wrote to the regent for the 50th anniversary, helped her.

In his “Recipe for a Perfect Queen,” the boy summarizes: “500ml of royal blood, a dab of jewels and plush robes, a dash of loyalty, pint of hard work, two tablespoons of health, a cup of courage, a handful of royal waves and a few drops of a beautiful smile.”

Jubilee celebrations in June

The monarch, who ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, appears in a new Instagram post from the palace visibly amused by the 20-year-old card. Accordingly, the 95-year-old leafed through “a selection of cards, letters and works of art that were sent to her by children and other citizens”.

Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 70th jubilee on the throne this Sunday at her country estate Sandringham, a big celebration is not until the beginning of June.
