The monarch continues to celebrate at Windsor Castle

The Queen’s platinum anniversary celebrations continued in Windsor on Thursday. She canceled a service in London.
Queen Elizabeth II (96) attended another event celebrating her platinum anniversary on Thursday evening. After appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in London, the 96-year-old appeared at Windsor Castle in the evening. The royal family had previously announced that the monarch felt “a little uncomfortable” and would therefore not attend a service in London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday (June 3).
In Windsor, the Queen gave the go-ahead for the lighting of bonfires to conclude the first day of the Jubilee celebrations. Thousands of the fires were lit across Britain and the Commonwealth. Wearing a turquoise outfit and her classic pearl accessories, the Queen touched a small symbolic globe, illuminating hundreds of lights placed on the lawn in front of her. She showed up again with a cane.
No trip to London on Friday
While she apparently managed the ceremony at Windsor Castle, her place of residence, without any problems, the monarch does not want to travel to London again this Friday. The Queen really enjoyed Thursday’s birthday parade in the capital, but she “felt a little uncomfortable,” the palace said, according to Sky News, among other things. In view of the effort involved in traveling to attend the service, Elizabeth II “decided with great reluctance that she would not attend.”
The Queen had already canceled some appointments in the past few months due to her limited mobility. Prince Charles (73), Duchess Camilla (74), Prince William (39) and Duchess Kate (40) as well as Prince Harry (37) and Duchess Meghan (40) are expected to attend the thanksgiving service in St. Paul’s Cathedral .
