Queen Elizabeth II will not receive 500 diplomats at Windsor Castle next week. The reason is the Ukraine war.

Queen Elizabeth II (95) has postponed a reception for diplomats planned for March 2nd. The reason is said to be the current Ukraine war. As British media reports unanimously, the head of state followed advice from the British Foreign Office. The plan was actually to welcome around 500 diplomats to Windsor Castle as part of an annual meeting.

A corresponding statement by Buckingham Palace did not go into the exact reasons, but the postponement has now been confirmed. The reports expressly state that only the political situation was decisive for this decision. The Queen’s current Covid 19 disease, on the other hand, played no role.

Queen has only “mild cold symptoms”

A week ago it was announced that the Queen had contracted the corona virus. She only developed mild cold symptoms, but some appointments have been canceled in the last few days. However, her weekly telephone audience with Prime Minister Boris Johnson (57) did take place. In another statement, Buckingham Palace said the Queen would return to Windsor for “light duties” in the days to come.
