God Save The Queen – that’s what many thought when it became known in February that Queen Elizabeth II had tested positive for the corona virus. She has since recovered, but seemed to have gotten worse than the palace indicated.

In a floral dress with a pearl necklace, Queen Elizabeth II stepped in front of the camera for a video call with a hospital in London. The Queen is the patron of the “Royal London Hospital”. In conversation with the doctors and employees, she also reports on her past corona infection.

The Queen became infected with Covid-19 in February despite a booster vaccination. At the time, the palace spoke of a “mild course” of the disease. But the queen herself now said that she was “very tired and exhausted” from the disease. The royal head also said to the staff who have been fighting the virus in the hospital for more than two years by treating patients: “This terrible pandemic. It’s not a nice result.” The monarch also praised the work of the hospital staff and stressed that they were doing a “great” job.

Queen Elizabeth II only takes part in selected events

A source told the Daily Mail newspaper that the corona-related cancellations at the time were made because Queen Elizabeth II was said to have sounded “croaky” and “cold” and not because her condition had deteriorated again.

The Queen has recently had repeated health problems. In October last year she had to spend a night in the hospital, the exact cause of which was never disclosed. Since then, she has canceled a number of events and has seldom appeared in public.

Most recently, at the end of March, she attended the memorial service for her husband Prince Philip, who died a year ago. On the other hand, she canceled her traditional participation in the Maundy Thursday service, instead she is represented by her son and heir to the throne, Prince Charles. The Queen will be 96 years old on April 21st.
