After Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, Queen Elizabeth II has now also donated money to Ukraine. It was a “generous donation,” said an aid organization.

Queen Elizabeth II has donated to the suffering Ukrainians whose homeland is being devastated by the Russian army. This emerges from a tweet published by the charity umbrella organization Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). It brings together 15 UK charities to jointly coordinate appeals and relief efforts.

Thursday’s post read: “Thank you to Her Majesty the Queen for your continued support of the Disasters Emergency Committee and for the generous donation” she has made to humanitarian aid to Ukrainians. An exact amount was not given.

Charles and Camilla make private donations of money and comfort

The heir to the throne, Charles and Camilla, had also recently donated money from their private collections. Camilla’s donation went accordingly to an appeal by the British “Daily Mail” and was “considerable”. Her spokesman said: “The horrific scenes of the Ukrainian refugees leave no one untouched and the Duchess wanted to help in any way she could.”

According to the report, Prince Charles is also said to have made personal donations. These are believed to go to two charities he is a patron of: the British Red Cross and World Jewish Relief.

Charles and Camilla visited the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London together on Wednesday and lit candles for the victims of the war. They also spoke to representatives of the 70,000 Ukrainians in the UK about the humanitarian crisis in their home country. Camilla was so moved by the descriptions that tears came to her eyes.

While Charles praised the “extraordinary courage and bravery” of the Ukrainian people in the face of “truly terrible aggression”, Camilla told the Ukrainian ambassador’s wife: “We pray for you”.
