Queen Elizabeth II (95) has returned to Windsor after a break in Norfolk. The monarch, who is currently celebrating her platinum jubilee on the throne, appears to be planning to attend a planned memorial service for Prince Philip (1921-2021) soon.

According to “Sky News”, the service should on March 29th at London’s Westminster Abbey. The Queen, who has been struggling with health issues in recent months, hopes she can attend, according to the report. Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were married for 73 years, he died in April 2021 at the age of 99.

Service for Prince Philip’s friends

The thanksgiving service is said to have been planned for a long time. Due to the corona measures, only the closest family could be present at Philip’s funeral in the chapel at Windsor Castle. Now friends, dignitaries and representatives of the many charities Prince Philip has been associated with could also be invited.

The Queen, who has lived at Windsor Castle most of the time since the start of the corona pandemic, has just spent some time off at her country estate in Sandringham. There she celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne on February 6th. The culmination of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations will be the days of June 2-5. Plans include street parties and a concert featuring some of the world’s “biggest entertainment stars”.

As early as March, the monarch could plan further appearances in addition to the memorial service. According to “Sky News”, this should include another service in Westminster Abbey on March 14 and a reception at Windsor Castle on March 2. However, palace officials are still holding back with an official confirmation.

The Queen had to cancel several appointments last fall after spending a night in hospital in October. Doctors advised her to rest.
