Harry was late

His eyes are downcast, the corners of his mouth turned down…

Prince Harry’s (37) face speaks volumes as his car pulls up at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The Duke of Sussex only made it to his grandmother’s deathbed around 9 p.m. German time – an hour and a half after the palace announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II (96).

In the afternoon, Elizabeth’s dearly beloved grandson rushes by plane from London to Aberdeen to be with his family during this difficult time. But Harry is too late.

He misses the moment when the Queen takes her last breath and his father becomes King Charles III at Balmoral. (73) will. His brother William (40), his scandal uncle Andrew (62), Prince Edward (58) and Princess Anne (72) had already arrived in the afternoon.

It is unclear whether the Queen has already died at this point. At 7:31 p.m. German time (6:31 p.m. local time), the palace announced that Elizabeth passed away peacefully in the afternoon.

For Harry, his face shows, it’s a particularly bitter day. The prince and his wife Duchess Meghan (41) broke with the royal family – but he was always very close to his grandmother.

But one consolation remains for Harry: at the beginning of June, the family, which was actually so divided, sat down at a table for Elizabeth’s throne anniversary. There, the queen was finally able to meet Lilibeth (1), her favorite grandson’s daughter. Harry had given his daughter the Queen’s family nickname. So Elizabeth remains part of the family even after her death.
