Pyrénées-Orientales: After ravaging 30 hectares, the Argelès fire is now fixed

This Tuesday morning, the situation had evolved favorably at the foot of the Albères affected by a violent fire on Monday.

If around twenty firefighters were still on site for surveillance missions, the Argelès fire was considered fixedthis Tuesday morning.

Declared shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday, this fire represented a new big scare for the Pyrénées-Orientales department a few days after the Cerbère fire which had covered 900 hectares in France and a hundred on the Spanish side.

Fixed this Tuesday morning, the fire has finally traveled 30 hectares and the surveillance missions will continue all day, the return of the wind was expected for the afternoon of this Tuesday raising fears of resumptions.

For the moment, while the fire occurred on the edge of departmental 618 and in the immediate vicinity of the railway line, behind Racou in Argelès-sur-Mer, the origin of the fire is still unknown.
