Putin friend in “The White Lotus” cast?: Ukraine criticizes US channel HBO

Ukraine has sharply criticized the US broadcaster HBO. It was previously announced that Serbian actor Miloš Biković (36) had been cast in a leading role in the hit series “The White Lotus”. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, HBO made the wrong choice. The government agency on X (formerly Twitter) literally asks: “Is it okay for you to work with a person who supports genocide and violates international law?”

Supporter of Russian “genocide”?

HBO cast Milos Biković for the third season of Mike White’s (53) hit drama “The White Lotus” at the beginning of the month. Filming for the third season of the multi-award-winning HBO series is set to begin next month in Thailand – with Biković. The actor supported the Russian attack on Ukraine from the beginning, according to the video integrated into the post. Ukraine also accuses the actor of supporting the “genocide” of the Ukrainian population.

Putin awarded Medal of Honor

Biković, who is a busy and well-known actor in Russia, shared an explosive poll on Twitter (now X) shortly after the start of the Russian invasion. This was intended to show that trust in Vladimir Putin (71) was higher than that in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj (46). In 2018, the actor also received the Russian Pushkin Medal from the hands of the Russian despot. It is an official medal of the Russian state. It is awarded, among other things, for “services in the field of culture”. The medal stands for “the rapprochement and mutual cultural enrichment of nations and peoples.” Bikovic even took on Russian citizenship in 2021.
