Putin, Baerbock and the world of Zeiserl – Bavaria

Zeiserl

The Green politician Annalena Baerbock was recently suspected of like copying from others, be it in a book or in Twitter posts. She came under suspicion that her personality was not yet fully developed. Nevertheless, she will soon hold the office of German Foreign Minister. In the merciless social media, the scoffers are now rising up, what it will be like when Baerbock meets guys like Putin, Lavrov and Erdoğan. Will they take the young politician seriously or even regard her as Zeiserl? Will she be able to make her voice heard in the realm of tough men? In Harald Grill’s novel “Learn to walk”, the author describes the classic lot of a Zeiserl in a school class. “As soon as I open my mouth in class, they laugh. If the young lady asks me something, I only dare to speak very softly. And the young lady still acts so stupidly: Oh, our Zeiserl is talking again!” This portrayal also works on the stage of world politics. A Zeiserl (Zeisig) is actually a songbird. The folk song says: “Goldfinch, Goldfinch, ‘s Zeiserl is sick!” The main thing is that the Zeiserl of this world do not end up in the Zeiserl car. This is a vehicle that used to be used to transport prisoners.

to force

The author Hannah Schweier made a film about her grandmother Berta, who ran an inn in the Cham district. The touching documentary is entitled “80 000 Schnitzel” and can be seen in the ZDF media library. For 50 years Berta has beaten, breaded and fried tens of thousands of schnitzels. In one scene, three women gleefully consume such schnitzel. One says: “Wosz ned zwingts, nehma mit hoam!” That means: what you fail, we take with us. “Never compulsory?” So you ask if the portion was too big. Forcing something, does that mean: conquering a schnitzel or forcing it into the stomach? Everyone judges that for himself.
