Publisher Chucklefish and developer ConcernedApe separate • JPGAMES.DE

Publisher Chucklefish and ConcernedApe will go their separate ways in the future. in one blog post the publisher describes the years of cooperation extremely benevolently. At the beginning it was initially closed for two years, now it has become seven years.

“It was 2014 when we first discovered Stardew Valley. Finn, the director of Chucklefish, found an early version of the game on Steam Greenlight and reached out to Eric to discuss how we could support the game. It became a huge success story.

You have created a lot together: new languages, the development of a wiki, a multiplayer mode, console versions, physical releases and the mobile version. And of course publishing tasks. Eric was able to devote himself to development the whole time.

“We originally entered into our agreement with Eric for two years, with the plan to hand off publishing duties and responsibilities after release. Today we handed over responsibility for Stardew Mobile, the last platform we published on – now ConcernedApe is ready to self-publish to all platforms!”

So it seems as if the contracts are simply ending. Stardew Valley will be self-distributed by ConcernedApe in the future. Eric Barone also confirmed this his Twitter account. By the way, he’s been working on it for a while his new game: Haunted Chocolatier.
