What a real wage round wants to be doesn’t end without a night of negotiations. This is now also the case with police officers, teachers and nursing staff in 15 federal states (Hesse is negotiating separately). In the end, however, there is a respectable compromise that takes into account the financial needs of the two million employees as well as those of the federal states. And it shows that social partnership in the Federal Republic basically works: it usually works better than with the train drivers.
