PSG: the arrival of the Portuguese Vitinha formalized by the club

PSG officially still does not have a coach, but it has its first recruit of the summer. As Le Parisien announced it on June 17, the Portuguese will wear the colors of the capital club next season. He only had to pass his medical examination, which the 22-year-old midfielder did this Thursday. In the evening, the PSG was therefore able to formalize its signature on its site and social networks.

At 22, the promising midfielder Vitinha has signed up for five seasons with FC Porto, where his technical qualities and vision of the game opened the doors of the Portuguese selection to him (3 selections). The amount of the transfer, not disclosed by PSG, is estimated at 40 million euros.

“I’m coming off my best season with Porto, winning titles and managing to become a Portuguese international, which was a dream for me. I want to continue to progress, and I want to do it here, to continue to win titles”, commented on the Parisian club website the midfielder, describing himself as “rather technical” and “oriented towards the attack”.

Announcement of the new coach this Saturday?

Trained at FC Porto and also on loan from Wolverhampton during the 2020-21 season, Vitinha has four national titles with Porto (two championships and two cups). He also won the Youth League in 2019, the equivalent of the Champions League among young people, and reached the Euro Espoirs final in 2021 with the Portuguese Under-21s.

Expected in the midfield to support the Italian Marco Verratti, Vitinha could soon be followed by his compatriot Renato Sanches (Lille)even the Ivorian Seko Fofanaauthor of a great season with RC Lens in the same position.

The Portuguese, who passed his medical examination on Wednesday, also becomes the first recruit of the new sports adviser Luis Campos, also Portuguese and appointed on June 10 to replace the Brazilian sports director Leonardo, whose dismissal, recorded at the end of May after the ultimate Ligue 1 day, was never officially announced.

This signing of a young player supposed to represent the future of PSG is part of the new sports policy of the club which wants to be less “bling-bling”, as promised by President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. In this line, Christophe Galtier will join PSG for two seasons plus one optional.

The formalization should take place this Saturday. He has already taken up residence this Thursday, bypassing the Factory, the club’s headquarters. He spent most of his time at Camp des Loges, the training center in Saint-Germain-en-Laye in the Yvelines. It is here that he gives an appointment to part of the troop for the resumption of the sessions, this Monday, July 4.
