PSG in Brest without Messi or Neymar, but with Donnarumma

The PSG superstars, Lionel Messi and Neymar, were exempted from the trip to Brest, this Friday at 9 p.m., by coach Mauricio Pochettino, who on the other hand called for the first time in the season Marquinhos, Angel Di Maria, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti.

The “Pulga” and “Ney” are the two main absent from the list announced by the club in the morning, where Sergio Ramos does not appear either. The two former accomplices of FC Barcelona continue their work of physical preparation, started a week ago for the Argentinian. He will play his first minutes as a Parisian when he is “in the best conditions”, said Pochettino.

See you in Reims

The eagerly awaited event could take place in Reims on Sunday August 29, just before the international break. Neymar, he returned to the PSG training center on August 6, along with Marquinhos, Paredes and Di Maria, who like him played the Copa América final on July 11.

Of this group, only “Marqui” and “Fideo” were summoned to go to Finistère. Pablo Sarabia, scorer off the bench last week against Strasbourg (4-2 victory), was not selected for the trip to Brest. Winners of the Euro with Italy, Verratti and Donnarumma appear on the other hand in the list.

First match for Donnarumma?

The presence of the former goalkeeper of AC Milan, one of the key recruits of the Parisian summer, revives the suspense around the name of the holder in the cages in Brest. Since the start of the season, Costa Rican Keylor Navas has held the post.

“If Donnarumma is in the squad, it’s because the probability that he will play exists,” Pochettino said Thursday. In attack, less mystery: the technician should align Kylian Mbappé and Mauro Icardi, in the quest for a third success in as many Ligue 1 matches. The return of defenders Ramos (calf) and Colin Dagba (ankle) is expected by PSG after the international break, in mid-September.
