Mauricio Pochettino is threatened with PSG at the end of the season at the latest. Now Antonio Conte is emerging as a possible successor for the Argentine.

Paris Saint-Germain apparently has another potential successor to coach Mauricio Pochettino in their sights after the bitter knockout round in the Champions League. Like the portal Calciomercato reported, the French club has contacted Antonio Conte.

The Italian only took over as head coach at Tottenham Hotspur in November and has signed a contract with London until 2023. However, according to the report, the 52-year-old has a release clause after this season. Most recently, he has already called for significant squad reinforcements at Spurs.

Antonio Conte already indicated farewell

“I think we’ve improved a lot. But if you have goals for the future, then you have to back it up with action, not just words,” he said. Conte continued: “At the end of the season we will know each other better and then we will find the best solution for the club.”

In mid-February, the former master coach of Juventus and Inter had already openly flirted with a farewell after Spurs had slipped into a results crisis. Two impressive and clear victories against Leeds United and Everton followed in the league before the next disappointment came last week in a 2-3 away game at Manchester United.

Tottenham are currently bottom of the table but still have catch-up games to play. Qualifying for the Champions League seems far away at the moment, however, with Arsenal FC finishing fourth and having played one game less and already six points ahead of their rivals.

At PSG, there are many indications that the club and Pochettino will split at the end of the season. So far, Zinedine Zidane, who is currently without a club, has been considered the top candidate for the coaching post in Paris.
