In December and May, activists demonstrate in the cordoned-off area of BER Airport for more action against the climate crisis. Several participants are now receiving notices of fees, and more are planned.

After actions at the capital airport BER demands the federal police from other climate activists money for the operation. In total, it is about 5330 euros for two incidents on December 8, 2022 and May 5, 2023, as the Federal Police announced at the request of the German Press Agency. A few days ago it became known that the federal police were demanding a total of 1,060 euros from six demonstrators for their deployment on November 24, 2022.

In December 2022, some activists managed to get into the cordoned off area of the airport to protest for more political action against the climate crisis. Unlike the action in November, flight operations were not affected, the federal police said at the time. According to their own statements, the federal police issued notices of fees against three of those involved. A case is in progress. The other two affected had appealed against the decision, it said.

The federal police want to ask seven people to pay for the action last May, in which climate protesters again invaded the site and sprayed paint on a private plane. Corresponding fee notices could only be issued after the end of the hearing period, the spokeswoman said.
