Protests in Leipzig – de-escalate, please! – Opinion

In the class struggle there is no room for nuances. Workers against capitalists, revolution against repression, us down here against those up there. Anyone who believes in the fight for the good, the right thing, quickly loses sight of the fact that the end does not justify the means. This also applies to the masked people in Leipzig, who threw pyro and stones at the police at the weekend, allegedly because it was about freedom of assembly. If you believe the chants of “fire and flame of repression” it was about much more: a defensive fight against a “police and repressive state”. For this they smash a savings bank, set garbage cans on fire and yell “BRD Bullenstaat”.
