The pictures of the courageous Iranian women are currently going around the world: women burn their headscarves and dance hand in hand through the crowd. They continue Mahsa Amini’s fight. The young woman was arrested by the Iranian vice squad for wearing a hijab that was too loose and died as a result of the violence that was done to her. Mahsa Amini’s fate has driven Iranian women, who have suffered under strict dress codes since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, onto the streets. They are fed up with being ruled by arch-conservative men telling them what to wear.
